The coordinating chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the six local government areas in Enugu North Senatorial District, Hon. Fabian Onah, yesterday, distanced the party faithful in the District from a media report which claimed that the delegates have allegedly endorsed Hon. Chijioke Edoga, as the candidate of the party ahead of the governorship primary election in the State.
Hon. Onah who is also the PDP chairman in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State, equally said that the delegates in the District do not have the powers to endorse any aspirant because the party is under the leadership of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State.
“I can speak authoritatively on what transpired during Hon. Chijioke Edoga’s visit across the six local government areas in Enugu North Senatorial District on Tuesday. Just like any other aspirants of the party, ranging from House of the Representatives, Senate and governorship slots in Enugu State, he came to canvas for votes and support from delegates. We as a party did not endorse anybody, rather, Hon. Chijioke Edoga just came to canvas for votes from delegates.”In Enugu State today, the same thing is applicable for other aspirants. I believe that Hon. Chijioke will still tour other Senatorial Districts in the state.
“I am speaking on behalf of the six local government chairmen of PDP in Enugu North Senatorial District. Our arms are still open to receive other aspirants who want to interface with our delegates before the primary elections. We have so many aspirants and there is no way we can pitch our tent with one aspirant in the state. The door is open for other aspirants to consult us.

“In Enugu State, we have a strong party under the leadership of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. So, we the chairmen of the party in this Senatorial District do not have the power to endorse any aspirant and such did not happen throughout Chijioke Edoga’s tour in Enugu North Senatorial District.
“It is just mischief makers who are trying to gain popularity and cause chaos in a party that is peaceful under the leadership of Governor Ugwuanyi of Enugu State that are behind such media report.” I want the general public to disregard such fake impression and report making the rounds in the media space. That malicious report was not what transpired during our meetings with Edoga in Enugu North Senatorial District. Other aspirants are still coming to consult with party stakeholders and delegates,” he explained.
