The Rivers state All Progressives Congress, APC, has accused the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state of infiltrating the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, with its members.
In a statement to newsmen on Monday, APC accused PDP in the state of inducing INEC to appoint two of its members as INEC collation officers.
The party, in the stamen, said of particular note are two PDP members, one Gbenekanu Ledornu Mpigi, whom it claimed is the younger brother of PDP senatorial candidate of Rivers South-East senatorial district Barry Mpigi and another, Professor Joyce Akaninwo, a known PDP member, were both appointed as INEC collation officers during the Rivers state elections.
The APC said the PDP members were appointed into INEC to subvert the will of the electorates by turning the election results to favour the PDP.
It said, “Gbenekanu Ledornu Mpigi, younger brother of PDP senatorial candidate of Rivers South-East senatorial district Barry Mpigi was an INEC Collation Officer in Rivers State.
“Professor Joyce Akaninwo a known PDP member, was appointed by INEC as a Collation Officer in Rivers State.”
The APC however condemned the alleged infiltration of INEC with PDP members.
