Uxbridge Magistrate Court in the United Kingdom has ruled that David Nwamini Ukpo, the alleged Kidney donor for Nigerian Senator, Ike Ekweremadu’s daughter is 21 and not 15 years old as widely reported.
The court gave the ruling on Thursday when Ekweremadu and his wife appeared at the beginning of trial on the case of alleged conspiracy to harvest organ of Ukpo, an indigene of Ebonyi State for their daughter who has complications and needed kidney transplant.
Ukpo reportedly admitted to the court that he is 21 years old and had been in the UK since February but only presented himself to the police in May.
They pleaded not guilty to the charges against them while the case was transferred to the Central Criminal Court.
The admittance of Ukpo, the alleged donor victim that he is 21, has laid to rest the issue of under-aged rumour.
Counsel to the defendant also denied the allegations of exploitation laid by Ukpo.
The court adjourned till August 4 and ordered that Ekweremadu and his wife be remanded until the next hearing.
Some members of the Senate and delegates from the Nigerian High Commission were present at the court hearing.
Also present were former Senate President David Mark, former Senate Minority Leader Eyinnanya Abaribe; Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Adamu Bulkachuwa and former Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba.
