Another Nigerian, Mrs. Victoria Obaze, has made Nigeria proud again on the international arena as she was sworn-in as a Mayor in London.
Mrs. Victoria Obaze, who is from Imo state, has become the third Nigerian to be sworn-in as a Mayor in the UK, following Mr Ernest Ezeajughi, and Mrs Kate Anorue.
She was sworn-in as the first black female Civic Mayor of London Borough of Tower Hamlets, United Kingdom.
Reacting to the development, the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, commended the development, saying she is proudly Nigerian.
According to her in a tweet, “Another Nigerian,Mrs Victoria Obaze, sworn in as a Civic Mayor of London Borough of Tower Hamlets, UK This makes her the third Nigerian to become a Mayor in the UK in the last few weeks , joining Mr Ernest Ezeajughi, and Mrs Kate Anorue,. Proudly Nigerian.”
Mrs. Obaze had contested three previous councillorship elections in 2010, 2014 and 2016 but failed. However, undeterred, she threw one more punch at it and, eventually, succeeded in an election conducted on May 5, 2018 in Whitechapel Ward.
