Detectives attached to Morogbo Police Division have smashed a four man armed robbery gang that specialize in robbing bank customers at Agbara area of Ogun State.

Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, said on June 29, 2018, operatives of the Command at Morogbo arrested a four armed robbery suspects namely: Saka Buraimoh, 25, Oni Kudaisi, 35, Sadiq Dauda, 28, and Taiwo Popoola, 24.

It was learned that the suspects had allegedly trailed a customer from his shop at Magbon in Badagry to one of the new generation bank at Agbara where he had gone to withdraw N250, 000.

It was gathered that the suspects had trailed the suspects on two motorcycles to the bank.

Luck however ran against the suspects when the victim wrestled one of the gang members to the ground as he tried to snatch away the money from him.

It was learned that another of the gang member fired some shots into the air to scare away onlookers.

Edgal said that the dare devil robbers who had been terrorizing Magbon, Badagry and its environs, had been under the command radar for some time, until luck ran out on them when they attacked one Cletus Odom, at Magbon junction.

The robbers had allegedly snatched the sum of N250, 000 from the said Cletus at gun point.

While the operation was ongoing, a good Nigerian watching from a safe distance saw how a helpless citizen was being attacked, placed a call to the DPO in charge of Morogbo Division who quickly rushed to the scene with his men. They engaged the robbers forcing them to retreat into a nearby swamp where they were arrested.

Recovered from them are the following exhibits: One locally made double barrel pistol loaded with two live cartridges. A Bajaj Boxer motorcycle with registration number MUS 330 OJ which they used during the operation. The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigation is over” he added

According to one of the suspects Oni Kudaisi (35) who claimed he joined the robbery gang to raise money to pay his son’s school fees.

“I bought the bike on higher purchase which I am paying installment.  This is the second time we went for the robbery. I was introduced into the gang by the leader. I only joined the gang because I was not able to pay for my son’s education. I asked them for money and they said they will not give me until I joined them for the robbery. Unfortunately after the robbery operation at Magbon where we collected N250, 000 from a victim we were caught”.

A shoe cobbler, Sodiq Dauda (28), said, “I was arrested for armed robbery. This is my second robbery operation. The first operation I was given the sum of two thousand naira (N2, 000) out of the Eighty two thousand naira (N82, 000) we made from the operation.

Saka Buraimoh (25) “I went into armed robbery because I don’t have any helper or family. I have gone for about three or four operations and usually I get between N30, 000 to N40,000after any operation. I  got the locally made double barrel from a friend called IP at Oko Afo. IP was owing me ten thousand Naira (N10,000) when he could not pay me he gave me the gun and said I would pay another ten thousand Naira to get the gun for his operation.”

“We have an informant in the bank called TJ. He has given us information about where to rob twice and we succeeded in the operation. In one of those operations we made over N200,000. At other times we made N150, 000 for operation. I use the proceeds to help my family.
