Gunmen have, on Friday morning, abduced over 300 schoolgirls from Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe in Talata Mafara local government area of Zamfara state.
This is coming barely 10 days after 27 students were kidnapped from Government Science College, Kagara, Niger state. During the kidnap, the terrorist kidnappers killed a student and also abducted three staff members of the school and their 12 relatives.
Recall that over 200 schoolgirls were equally kidnapped in Dapchi, among which Leah Sharibu is still being held captive for refusing to denounce her religious faith, even after the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government assisted in the release of other girls who were either Muslims or converted to Muslims.
A resident in Kawaye village, who identified himself as Sadi Kawaye said that his daughters, Mansura and Sakina were among those abducted.
“I’m on my to Jangebe now to see the situation myself. I was told they invaded the school around 1:00am,” he said.
The spokesman of the state police command command SP Muhammad Shehu didn’t deny the abduction but pleaded for time to ascertain the true situation
“Give me some times, I can’t say anything now,” he said.
Abduction of school children, most times, girls, have become a regular occurence in the north after the various northern governments, including the Federal government, have in various occasions, paid the kidnappers in unclear deals termed settlements.
