…urges Deputy to pick Imo East ticket for Senate
Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has finally unveiled his political plans for 2019 as he declared yesterday that he would run for the Senate seat of Imo West senatorial district. Also, he said while he would pick the All Progressive Congress’ (APC) ticket for the Imo West, deputy, Prince Eze Madumere had been positioned to represent the state in the upper chamber from the East senatorial district.
Okorocha said this yesterday, when he received a delegation from Ohaji- Egbema council area of the state, who were on a solidarity visit to endorse the governor’s son in-law and Chief of Staff, Chief Uche Nwosu’s governorship ambition.
Okorocha told the delegation that more than 12 council areas had already endorsed Nwosu for governor as it was necessary for the state to field its best team in 2019. Also, Okorocha assured his visitors that he would advise his deputy, Prince Eze Madumere to run for the Imo East Senate seat and Hon. Chike Okafor to run for the Federal House of Representatives.
He said: “Consequently, I have considered the situation on ground. You all know that my intention has always been to run for the presidency of this country. I had also stated that if President Muhammadu Buhari was running I would not run.
“I have also noted that it would be a disservice to my people and party if I stay on the sideline in 2019. Adventurers and persons of questionable character would hijack the Imo West Senate seat I do not run. Accordingly, I have resolved to run for the Imo West senate seat in 2019.
“This is our team and we need to field our best in 2019. I also urge you and Imo people to endeavour to participate in the ongoing voter’s registration exercise.”
