OWERRI—AHEAD of 2019 gubernatorial election, Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha yesterday finally endorsed his son in-law, Mr. Uche Nwosu.
Okorocha confirmed this through a statement to newsmen in Owerri by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Sam Onwuemeodo during a meeting with the members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Owerri Municipal Council.

Some of the reasons as outlined by the governor, were that the son-in-law was qualified and that “he is humble, not proud or arrogant.”
He added that Imo state needed a governor and not a governor from Owerri zone. Okorocha also said that the son- in-law does not segregate.
According to the endorsement release, “Governor Rochas Okorocha has said that if Chief Uche Nwosu comes out to contest the 2019 governorship election in the State, he would support him on the ground that he has all the qualities of an ideal leader.
“Chief Nwosu is the current Chief of Staff in the Government House and an ardent apostle of the Rescue Mission Government in the State.
“Uche Nwosu is hardworking and never gets tired. He is a very humble young man. He’s not proud and not arrogant. So, power won’t enter his head.
“Inspite of the position he occupies, you can’t see him quarreling with anybody or maltreating anybody. He does not segregate against anybody whether from Orlu or Owerri or Okigwe zone. He relates with people enviously. I have checked him in and out, I have not found him wanting.
“What the state wants is Imo governor and not Owerri Zone or Orlu Zone or Okigwe Zone governor. Zoning does not put food on the table of anybody.
“The young man is a team player who does not use his office to molest anybody. He has the qualities of a good leader. If he says he will run for governor, I will support him.
“Obviously, it might be as a result of these qualities that most people are talking about Uche Nwosu for governor everywhere even when he has not declared for the governorship.”
Deputy governor outwits Okorocha’s son in-law
Meantime, inline with the demands, Governor Rochas Okorocha’s Deputy, Prince Eze Madumere, has gotten another endorsement to outsmart his (Okorocha) son in-law, Mr. Uche Nwosu.
The latest endorsement as confirmed yesterday by Vanguard in Owerri, came from the Imo state Almagamated Markets and Traders Association, ISAMATA.
The leader of ISMATA, Joe Odikanwa gave their reasons for the said endorsement, saying that Madumere is loyal, humble, competent and a key player in Okorocha’s administration since inception.
Vanguard had reported that before this current endorsement of the deputy governor, a group, Rochas Good Governance, believed to be working in the interest of Governor Rochas Okorocha had endorsed his son in law, Mr. Uche Nwosu.
In order to get more endorsements for Nwosu, it will also be recalled that a section of the youths of the All Progressives Congress, APC, led by one Jeff Nwaoha, had also endorsed Nwosu.
The tempo for who gets the highest number of endorsements was set out as a criteria by governor Okorocha, as such a person would get his support as his successor, come 2019.
Since that pronouncement, the governor said he is waiting for the people of the state to show him their choice for 2019 gubernatorial election under the All Progressives Congress, APC.
