ONITSHA—LAWMAKERS in Anambra State House of Assembly yesterday declared that they had no face-off with Governor Willie Obiano over the recently concluded 2018 budget defence by ministries.
This followed insinuation in some quarters that the delay in the 2018 budget defence was as a result of the face-off between the governor and the legislators.

Speaking to newsmen at the House of Assembly complex, the chairman of Finance and Appropriation Committee, Hon. Obinna Emenaka described the allegation as baseless, unfounded and the handiwork of mischief makers who do not have the interest of the state at heart.
“We have no problem with our amiable, hardworking and people-friendly governor. It is laughable that those whose stock in trade is to pull down not only Governor Willie Obiano but the entire state is at work”.
He advised the people of the state to shun the rumour mongers and join hands with the Obiano government to move the state to an enviable position.
Emenaka explained that the little delay in kick starting the budget defence was due to some logistic problems.
He praised each of the ministries that participated in the budget defence for their good performance in the 2017 budget.
However, he charged them to make sure that the 2018 budget be fully implemented in the interest of the good governance which the Obiano administration was committed to.
